    Assessments consist of:

    1. Filling in a self-assessment form with a trainer (10%)
    2. An observation of the teacher's teaching at the teacher's centre. This includes a general observation of the centre itself (40%)
    3. An assessment of the teacher's participation in training sessions, and the teacher's progress as a teacher, observed by the trainer, over a period of six months (20%)
    4. A written assessment of the work the teacher has covered in the first six months of training (to ensure the teacher has understood what has been taught), with the trainer's supervision (30%)

    A mid-year open book exam is written, to encourage student teachers to see the value of learning from written sources.
